5 Books To Cure A Book Hangover | Book LIST

Ever had a book hangover? Yes? Don’t know how to get rid of this book slump?
We do! (well we think we do XD )

Image result for acomafImage result for ACOWARThis usually occurs when you’ve finished a superb book/series. Or when you haven’t read in a long while due to reasons (laziness for us 😉 ). Our first MAJOR book hangover was after reading Sarah J. Maas’ second installment to the ACOTAR series, A Court of Mist and Fury. If you read it you know why. If you haven’t – you should read it now, that’s right – NOW!! Despite the slow start that is the first book – A Court of Thorns and Roses, ironically we would recommend this book as a cure for your book hangover – however, you must prepare to have another book on standby after this book. We also recommend to read (perhaps after ACOMAF) A Court of Wings and Ruins (#3 ACOTAR) that’s coming out 2 May 2017 (a week from now 😉 )
P.S. We may (or may not) do a book review on all the ones we haven’t already (Why not eh? They’re all FAB books 😉 )
Remember to comment below which book you want a review on first!!

So let’s begin – in no particular order…

1. Shift By Em Bailey | YA Mystery Contemporary

A chilling psychological thriller that tears through themes of identity, loss, and toxic friendship, Shift will leave readers guessing until the final pages.

We read this not too long ago (well approximately a year or so) and we have to say it blew our minds. If you can’t tell already we tend to favour series over stand-alone books – call us greedy but we just need more! However, we only heard good things about this book so we decided to give this book ago. And boy we weren’t disappointed!!

Read the book this fast – we needed answers!!

We were then blessed with a complex plot about identity. Quiet shy girl, Olivia Corbett knows better to stay clear of mysterious new girl, Miranda Vaile. Probably it’s because of the meds she’s taken but it seems Miranda here is stealing popular queen bee Katie’s life. See now who would believe crazy Olivia – who is known to have a wild imagination? Everyone seeming oblivious to Miranda’s schemes leaves Olivia unprotected. Why would she need protection you may ask? Olivia may be the next victim.

2. Anna and the French Kiss By Stephanie Perkins | YA Romance Contemporary

“For the two of us, home isn’t a place. It is a person. And we are finally home.”

If it isn’t obvious already then this book is about Anna. She goes to Paris, France. She didn’t want to. Not at first anyway. She had a super cool BFF, a cool job and a crush with a promise of something more this senior year, back in Atlanta, USA. Things change when she meets smart, charming, beautiful Étienne St. Clair, who happens to have a girlfriend. Sucks right?

Cliché it is – but sometimes we need that. This is a series – but can be read on its own. Need some happiness – give this book a try!!

3. Angelfall By Susan Ee | YA Paranormal Fantasy

Haven’t read this book yet? Well, what are you waiting for??! We give you permission to DEVOUR this pure gold!! There was a time when we had nothing to read (what a joke there’s always something to read – we just was not in the mood, shocking or what?). This cover can be deceiving, not great but not bad either. Trust us you won’t regret reading this unless you have something against paranormal – which you should not!! (it’s okay though if you do – just skip through this part 😉 )

Susan Ee’s fast-paced writing is pure bliss!!

Young teen, Penryn Young goes on a long journey with an unlikely accomplice, an angel who came down (with other angels) to wipe out the modern world, Raffe – to bring back her sister, Paige who was kidnapped by street angels. Of course, Penryn is faced with many challenges. But she will have to choose. Save humanity or her sister?

4. Shatter Me By Tahereh Mafi | YA Fantasy-Dystopian

“Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don’t fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color.”

Tahereh Mafi’s writing style is very unique filled with metaphors. This book was interesting and different from the usual books we read. For some the writing may put you off before you even start – but we highly recommend to read this so you can read the next (which of course gets better).

*spoilers* Comment below if you get it 😉 Hint: Warner

In a world gradually collapsing, seventeen-year-old Juliette Ferrars is locked in an Asylum for 3 years until she’s released only to be used as a weapon. Will she become what they want her to be? Or will she make her own future?

5. The Queen of All that Dies By Laura Thalassa | New Adult Romance Dystopian

Our friend recommended this book to us (YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!! 😉 ). One of us (Shanya) has completed this trilogy in just a few days (3 days to be precise) and the other (Tanya) has read the first, second and started the third.

In the future, the world is at war.

For the last decade, King Lazuli of the Eastern Empire has systematically taken over the world. No one knows much about him other than a series of impossible facts: he cannot die, he has not aged since the conflict began, and he wants to rule the world.

Serenity (or Sera-nitty as our friend calls her – LOL XD ) Freeman, the future emissary of the Western United Nations is placed with the task to unite the nations (where she can) with negotiations. Things are looking bad. So bad that Serenity may have to meet the King himself and make a deal she may forever regret.

For the king, it means meeting the one woman he can’t conquer.

But if Serenity is about to go down – she sure ain’t gonna let a cruel weirdo King control her. She’s badass (*spoiler* more so in the third book 😉 )

Of course, there’s Montes. He’s too perfect!! Cannot even put it into words!! So we shall put it into gifs 😉

The last one may have blind you (like it has us) – but yes Montes is PERFECTION! We definitely will be doing a review on this series one day in the future (hopefully).

P.S. We may (or may not) do a book review on all the ones we haven’t already (Why not eh? They’re all FAB books 😉 )

  1. Good stuff (still have Angelfall on my to-read list)! Whenever I find myself in a book slump, Neil Gaiman is my go-to author. That is even if my copy of Neverwhere is well worn from reading. 😉
